City Harvest wants your lunch money on May 12th
Instead of getting that $5 coffee or a $25 bento box lunch, help feed a New York City child by donating that money instead to City Harvest.
City Harvest is asking potential donors to skip lunch and fight hunger. The campaign is set for Wednesday, May 12th, and a donation as small as five dollars could help feed two children for a week.
Requests to hunger-relief agencies are up 26% over last year, according to City Harvest, and one in four children in New York City goes hungry some of the time. The problem affects more than the homeless and unemployed: 22% of those seeking hunger relief have at least one working family member.
City Harvest is also stretching every donated dollar: corporate and private donors are matching gifts up to $8,000.
